The second €2 commemorative coin, issued to mark the 175th anniversary of the death of Grand Duke William II, recalls his reign. In 1840, he became King Grand Duke, giving the Grand Duchy its first Constitution in 1841 and a revised, more liberal Constitution in 1848. William II died in 1849, 175 years ago.
