The Fairtrade^® 2021 gold coin is dedicated to Melusine, the famous mermaid whose legend says that she would have charmed Count Sigefroid.

This new edition of the “Cultural History of Luxembourg” series invites to a journey back in time, when a small wooden castle called “Lucilinburhuc” was unaware that it would give its name to a dynasty, a capital and a country.

Luxembourg artist Serge Ecker designed the coin “Melusine”, which recalls the eponymous statue he created on the city’s 1050th anniversary.
